Artistic is Good

I’ve been in a bit of an artistic mood of late. I have these ideas I’d love to see happen, and somehow I managed to convince myself they’re not worth my time. That I’m too busy to be creative.

Ever do that to yourself? I’m not sure what chemicals flow differently in the brain when I allow myself to do small creative things, but I think there’s something to it, because I definitely feel better when I’m being artistic.

The little one was away with her grandma this weekend, so I stole some time for art and deep thoughts. Also video games, Fitocracy, and a bit of Twitter. But no Facebook, as much as I could avoid – and I actually stopped myself from reading the news stories and blogs where the comments turn into and endless line of must-read drama – somehow I just managed to turn away, at least for the weekend.

And I have a little better mental space to show for it, I think. Hope your Memorial weekend break was equally refreshing. Enjoy the luxuries and freedoms our country has fought to defend.
