Shad Avery Mosman

Dan-o said it well, so I’ll just quote him:

For those of you that haven’t yet heard, we are mourning the loss of
family. Shad Avery Mosman (the famed Captain Clod) passed away
Wednesday, April 18th.

There will be memorial services held in his honor in New Orleans,
Morgantown WV and at Pennsic.

There will soon be a pay pal account set up for donations to his family
and for funerary expenses.

The Morgantown WV memorial service will be held at 123 Pleasant St on
Wednesday April 25th. It’ll be a good old-fashioned rock’n'roll show,
so put on your boots and get your ass there.
All show proceeds will go to Amber and the boys.
Please bring pictures, stories and remembrances.
Celebrate his life and legacy.

More soon.

Addition the First: Shad did my tattoos, and the tattoos of so many friends. It’s nice to think we have little pieces of his art to keep. It still seems unreal — a feeling only heightened by him being so far away for the last six months. I heard that he and Amber loved New Orleans, and how wonderful it was for them there. He actually came to the bar the night of our wedding, saying that one of them had to be there to see us that day (they were still in Ohio at the time I believe, but he drove several hours to be there at least for a little of the celebrating).   I think that’s the last time I saw him.

The Book of Biff

Okay, I’ve recently become highly amused by Biff. I think the later comics are better than the earliest ones, at least so far, but it is exactly the right kind of whacked. I love it. Here are a few samples for you to click to, in order to get an idea:

Maybe having the car alarm just turn on a really bad radio station isn’t enough of a deterrant.”

Biff’s solution to getting the ketchup out of the ketchup bottle: carbonation.

Biff found it easier to look under the couch for things after having his head laminated.

Ever since the invention of the hand-held GPS unit, Biff has not been afraid of getting lost in the woods.

Biff felt that painting the first room took too long.

(That’s enough to get the idea.)

The over-exaggerated eyebrows and mouth make for great expressions and in-jokes, too.

I think my favorites are when the author has a little box below the cartoon where he shares some of his thoughts for the day, usually somehow related to the cartoon. If you have time, check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Okay, one more:

School.
