Oh I realize it's good to have the tests, even if they don't entirely make sense to me at the moment. Better than potentially fatal problems being ignored.

Unfortunately I don't think that the reasoning is as good as yours is -- one of my docs told me flat out she believed I had undiagnosed high blood pressure. (If I do, it is recent as opposed to long term, but she looked skeptical when I said earlier blood pressure readings over the years were a relatively normal 120/70. I got the impression she didn't believe me; she didn't have the best bedside manner. I felt interrogated and dismissed rather than that I had a dialogue.)

As you pointed out, the end result may have been the same -- "Hey we're concerned with this sudden spike, let's test your kidney function." And with my family history of heart disease, it's probably good to test my kidney function! I just wish any of these reasons had been given as the primary reason instead of "you have undiagnosed high blood pressure." (Not feeling listened to, or not being believed, makes me feel contrary. Isn't that adult of me?)

Hehe, it's good that Sean has a sense of humor. ;)

No offense, but I'm glad they're being hyper-vigilant about it.

Pre-eclampsia (what they were possibly testing for [or maybe gestational high blood pressure]) can come on suddenly and be quite dangerous to you and the baby. And it's likely the sudden and unexpected spike was what worried them so much.

And you should probably be just as happy you didn't have to have a glucose tolerance. Nothing like fasting for 12 hours and then hanging out in a waiting room to make one *really* miserable.

Anyway. Didn't mean to be such the ray of fucking sunshine there. :)

Mostly wanted to let you know it's a very good thing they're being so proactive. So be happy with them. :)

And if all else fails, remember, it's ALL SEAN'S FAULT!

;)

(Sean is so never going to let me into your house ever at this rate)
