25 weeks

It’s hard to believe it’s been another week already. I’ve gotten a little bit of the straightening up done, but there’s still a lot to go. Did some good cooking this week, I’m particularly pleased with a zucchini lasagna I made. I’m still a little unsettled by the idea of baby tasting my meals, but I’ve been trying to vary my eating (hummus and whole wheat pita and palak paneer and chicken and zucchini and balsamic vinaigrette and lemon poppyseed muffins and dark chocolate) to expose her to a lot of different flavors while I can (or the amniotic fluid version of those flavors, I guess). Is it coincidence that my tummy is now growling at me to go eat something?

Baby is supposed to be about 13 and a half inches and weigh a pound and a half. She’s still pretty thin, but starting to fill out. I’ve read that her bones are continuing to solidify, and some of the finer nerve connections are still forming, as well as the brain. She’s got a greater than 50% survival chance at this point, and perhaps as high as 63%, which I find pretty amazing. I wonder if that number is universal, or only if you can reach a fabulous neo-natal unit in time?

She’s been really active, though, and I think she’s getting stronger. I wonder if all that movement will last or if she’ll slow down?
