Redheads: Jessica Rabbit

“I’m not bad. I’m just drawn that way.”
Jessica Rabbit is the surprisingly faithful wife of Roger Rabbit in the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit. She’s an exaggeration of the pin-up model redhead. She is also unwavering in her devotion: She will do anything she has to in order to keep her rabbit husband safe. I also find it humorous, pun appropriate, that no one believes she loves Roger because he makes her laugh.
Though her character is occasionally given flack for her unrealistic proportions, it always seemed to me the animators and writers were exaggerating her to a purpose: She’s the stereotypical red-haired femme fatale, the one the hero isn’t supposed to go home with in the end. That her personality is at odds with the way she’s drawn is, ultimately, the point.
